Debra E. Miller

Debra E. Miller, of Woodley Rd, lost her courageous battle against a rare disease, known as Amyloidosis on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Methodist Hospital, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Debbie was diagnosed with this disease in mid-January when a fast and furious battle for her life began. Knowing fully that the odds were against her, Debbie felt her will and determination would see her through this difficult fight. It will be her hope and courage that will inspire others to continue their fight against this deadly disease.

After exhausting all treatment options at the Toledo Hospital, Debbie bravely went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota seeking a miracle. Even with the incredible "dream team" of medical professionals as her soldiers, they were unable to quell the devastating damage this fast moving disease had left in its wake. With her loving family by her side and what was left of her frail body Debbie passed on, knowing her will and determination would live on forever in the people she touched.

Debbie leaves behind her loving husband of three years, J. Michael Miller; her son, Adam Riley Johnston; daughters, Ashley Nicole Johnston and Brittney Rose Johnston; stepdaughter, Nicole Danielle Miller; stepson, Matthew Michael (Tiffany) Miller; granddaughter, Isabelle Miller; sister, Carol (John) Rousseau; brother, Kevin Dieck; mother-in-law, Carol Miller; her beloved yellow Labrador Retriever, Honey and her alley-cat, Harley. Debbie will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland Dieck and Betty Neubauer and sister, Cathy McEvoy.

The family will receive guests Sunday from 3 -8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Mike Brown. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

A special thank you to the physicians and staff at the Mayo Clinic, especially the "best nurse in the world", Jon Heise, for the loving care and support during this very difficult time.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mayo Clinic.
