Deborah Lynn Rau, age 69, of Toledo passed away on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022. She was born the youngest of three daughters to the late John and Kathleen (Salmon) Korcsog on December 25th, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio. She married Richard Rau on March 23rd, 2013. She was a dedicated mother, loving wife, devoted daughter, caring sister and aunt, and a kindhearted neighbor and friend.
Debbie worked at Sears for 44 years, from 1969 until she retired as a Lead Manager in 2013. After retiring she got married, beat breast cancer, and then settled into a comfortable life with her love, Richard. No matter what life threw at her, she handled it with dignity and grace. She was strong-willed and hardworking while simultaneously being a "go with the flow" free spirit. All at once she could be the voice of reason that soothed and the example of strength that motivated.
Her kind soul touched many lives, humans and animals alike. Anyone who knew Debbie knew that she lived for her three daughters, prioritizing them in every step that she took and paving the way for their lives to flourish. Her unwavering love was the foundation on which their bond as a four person unit stood, unshakable and everlasting. She had an open door policy for all of her daughters' friends, and took care of anyone who walked through her door as if they were her own. She was a cheerleader for everyone in her life, no matter how distant; always excited for the victories of others. Her encouragement, acceptance, and endless support for those around her made her a truly unique person.
Her creativity was evident in everything she did. She loved searching for antiques and was an expert at making any house she lived in feel like a home. She loved trips to the ocean, collecting seashells, going to horse shows with Richard, tending to the flowers in her garden, being in nature, catching up with friends, relaxing in the comfort of her home with her dogs, and above all, Debbie loved spending time with her family. She will never be forgotten and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Richard Rau; three daughters, Jodie (Chris) Rominski, Nikki (Justin) Doran, and Shannon (Craig) Mossing; grandchildren, Raegan, Reed, and Niall; stepdaughters, Richelle (Mark) Palm and Tamela Fischer; step grandchildren, Cole, Beau, Tyler, and Alexandra; sisters, Valerie (Marc) Blostein, Pam Lee; three nephews, and two nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Kathleen Korcsog; and her brother-in-law, Bob Lee.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held in Debbie's honor on Friday June 3rd, 2022, from 5-8pm at the Lamb Center at Side Cut Metropark. Please stop by any time between 5-8pm to visit with the family and remember Deb's light and life together.
