Deborah Ferguson Turner Powell, 70, passed away January 13, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Deborah was born September 26, 1951 in Charleston, WV to Warren and Beatrice (Huntley) Ferguson, adopted daughter to Elezer Turner Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Doriane Powell; daughter-in-law, Nicoley Parkman; brothers, Troy Vann Turner, Greg Ferguson and Ricky Bowlds; sisters, Denise Freeman, Kathy and Hillary Ferguson; aunt, Lois (Chuck) Long, Helen Smith, Mary Jean (Lee) Howell, Darlene (Reggie) Lewis; uncles, Joe Ferguson and Raymond Turner; nieces, Kenya Turner and Tamara Mabray; nephew, Fulani Freeman; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and beloved friends.
Debbie graduated from Libbey High School. She grew up in the 700 block of Vance and was an avid swimmer at City Park Pool. She played violin and enjoyed horses. Debbie moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1974 where she was very successful in radio and T.V. broadcasting in both L.A. and Toledo. She had her own successful business as well, The Business Support System. Debbie worked with Skip Cooper and the Black Business Association of Los Angeles for several years. She independently collected black memorabilia and sold antiques. Debbie very much enjoyed the beach daily.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
