Deborah L. Carper, age 68, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully, from a sudden illness, on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania. Deb was born March 29, 1955, in Toledo, to the late Donald and Carolyn (Jordan) Carper.
Deb attended Start High School, where she was very active in the extracurricular activities such as the Spartanette's. She graduated from Whitmer High School, class of 1973. Deb worked at Toledo Edison as a security guard and then later worked as a journeyman meter mechanic. While working at Toledo Edison, Deb completed her Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice and a Master's Degree in education. After leaving Toledo Edison, Deb went to work for Toledo Public Schools as an Electrical Technology Instructor. Since retiring in 2020, she continued to substitute teach at Toledo Technology Academy. During her career at TTA, Deb was selected to travel to Washington, DC to represent Toledo Public Schools STEM program, where she met President Barack Obama. She enjoyed attending competitions with her students in the robotic team competitions. When Deb wasn't working, she enjoyed tending to her garden, spending time with her family, and cuddling with her two corgis, Yoda and Tater. Debs love and smile will forever be missed by those who knew her. This isn't goodbye, it's see you later…
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving husband of 42 years, Michael Antel, whom she married in May of 1980; son, Mike Antel; two corgis, Yoda and Tater; two sisters, Linda (Douglas) Allman of Maumee, Ohio and Donna (Dave) Duren of Rowlett, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Deb was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Bruce Carper.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
