Debbie J. Hammett, age 68, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at home. She was born on September 2, 1952 to Noah and Marge Broadway in Toledo. Debbie spent most of her life in the Sylvania area. She worked at Sylvania Schools, Libbey Glass, Hudson's and Frisch's Big Boy but most importantly she loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Debbie was an excellent cook, her specialties being her famous baked beans, jello salad and deviled eggs which ended up at every family event. She loved playing Bingo with her mom. Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, granny, sister and friend. She had an amazing sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. Debbie loved singing to Motown and Barbara Streisand. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish Debbie's memory are her loving husband of 46 years, Duane Hammett; daughters, Elizabeth (Mike Bevan) Hammett and Abby (Dustin) Kulwicki; grandsons, Catcher, Gabriel and Dylan; siblings, Char McClellan, Tara (Scott) Hall, Noah (Pam) Broadway, Matt Broadway, and Kelly (Scott) Houk; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life to honor Debbie will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Genesis Village, 2429 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43614.
