Deanna Lynn Penske

September 27, 1962 — July 21, 2022

Deanna Lynn Penske, 59, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2022 in the loving care of her son and daughter-in-law with the support of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Deanna was born September 27, 1962 in Toledo to Janet Fernow and Robert Tertel.

She was a 1981 graduate of Whitmer High School. Shortly after graduation, Deanna married Mark Penske on December 11, 1981, whom she shared a son, Cody, with. She aspired to be an accountant but took a different career path as a long distance truck driver. Deanna loved being on the road and was employed with several different trucking companies throughout the years. She was most proud of being a U.A.W. member while working for Jeep transport from 1999-2010. Unfortunately, Deanna had to take an extended medical leave in 2010 which led to her early retirement in 2015.

In December 2010 Deanna married her long time friend, Rick Butler. They shared their interest in classic cars and going to drag races on the weekends. She had a love for reading, animals, nature - especially butterflies. Deanna enjoyed playing bingo and going to casino's, particularly Mt. Pleasant. She also traveled to Hocking Hills, Southern Ohio Amish Country and Marblehead with friends. Deanna adored her only grandchild, Damion, and looked forward to sitting on the sidelines cheering him on at all of his sporting events.

Deanna had hoped to do much more traveling in her lifetime and had a bucket list full of adventures she did not get to accomplish. You now have your wings now mom and are free from cancer, chronic pain and physical limitations; spread your wings and fly high.

Left to forever cherish her memory is her son, Cody (Melissa) Penske; grandson, Damion Penske; brothers, Mark Tertel of Toledo, OH, Rick Tertel of Missoula, MT; and uncle Dick Fernow.

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
