David Thomas Wesenberg

David Thomas Wesenberg, beloved son and friend to many, died September 13, 2024 at Embassy of Swanton Skilled Nursing Center in Fulton County, Ohio.

David was born August 12, 1995 in Moscow, Russia. He was adopted July 12, 1996 by parents, Tom and Kathi Wesenberg, and was raised in Toledo, Ohio. He visited extended family in Russia in 2011 and 2013. David had a zest for life and a caring disposition that endeared others to him.

David attended Trinity Lutheran School, State Line Christian School, and Emmanuel Baptist Christian School, from which he graduated in 2013. During his elementary and high school years, David became an accomplished cellist. He was a prominent member of the Toledo Youth Symphony Orchestra in his junior high and high school years. His cello playing became an important part of his life.

After attending the University of Toledo, David became a skilled mechanic. He also co-owned his own automotive repair business. He became a truck driver for Keller Logistics in 2021.

In 2015 David enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his basic training in Oklahoma, David served in Ohio in the U.S. Army National Guard, until his death.

David is survived by his adoptive parents, Tom and Kathi Wesenberg; sister, Anne Wesenberg, all of Toledo, Ohio; grandfather, Aniese Seed of Lambertville, Michigan; as well as aunts and uncles, Sue and Larry Morgan, Ed and Donna Seed, and Jane and Ron Diehl; and several cousins. He is also survived by half-siblings Dennis and Stepan Emelyanov and Katya Pshenitsyna, in Russia. David was preceded in death by grandmother, Neysa Seed and grandparents, Durward and Ann Wesenberg.

The family will receive guests on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo, OH 43617 (419-392-9500) with visitation again on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. with Funeral Services beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Providence Reformed Baptist Church.
