David G. Varnes

David G. "Dave" Varnes, age 73, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg with his loving wife by his side. He was born January 8, 1945 to Lester and Helen Varnes in Toledo. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Woodward High School in 1964. Dave retired from Willis Day after 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed camping, taking casino trips, watching sports and playing Uno with his wife. Dave loved nothing more than the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Leslie Gambrell, Barbara Cupp and Jack Varnes. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Judy Varnes; daughter, Stephanie Varnes; adoring grandchildren, Heyleigh, Logan, Johnny, Jayson and Ciara; brother, Harold Varnes; sister-in-law, Esther Varnes; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 2 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
