David M. Somers, age 56, of Lambertville, passed away Friday, October 28, 2005 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 13, 1949 to Robert and Ruth (Hollabaugh) Somers in Toledo. David was a Millwright for Chrysler Corp., Perrysburg Plant, for 10 years and at Powertrain Division of General Motors, for 26 years before retiring due to illness in May of 2005. He was an avid gardener, lover of the outdoors and enjoyed photography, especially nature.
David is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Mary E. "Beth" Somers; sons: Todd (Kim), Kevin (Cathy) and David Somers; daughters: Beth Anne (Ron) Jay and Dawn (Bill) Burdue; step-children: Mic (Shelly) Donahue, Shannon (Sean) Cantwell and Danielle (Joe Skillman) Donahue; grandchildren: Jessica, Emily, Gabriel, Todd Jr., Jacob, David and Shelby Somers, Abigail Jay, Bryce and Bailey Burdue, Shelby Lynn Koester, Ian, Cameron, Kiley Donahue, Kayla, Cade, McKenna and Riley Cantwell; one great granddaughter: Diamond Somers; father: Robert Somers sister: Karen (Al) Schultz, of Medford, OR; 1 step-brother; 4 step-sisters; and special aunt: Sue Graalman.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Somers and step-mothers, Mildred Somers and Alberta (Hite) Somers.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300).
The family requests that those wishing to give monetary donations are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, The American Red Cross or the Toledo Humane Society.
