David Carl Schafer

David Carl Schafer, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at St. Anne Hospital at the age of 53. He was born in Toledo on October 12, 1963, to Carl and Patricia (Berry) Schafer.
Dave worked for many years for Appliance Parts and Toledo Public Schools. In his recent retirement days, Dave enjoyed spending his time fishing and enjoying Up North Michigan. Dave was an avid OSU fan and a member of Bay View Yacht Club.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Patty, and his uncle, Jan Berry.
Surviving are his sister, Susan Behnfeldt; niece, Zoey Behnfeldt; cousins, Rob (Debbie) Berry, Doug Berry, Brad (Andrea) Berry and Andy (Jennifer) Berry; life-long friends, Tom Ahrendt, Brian Elliott, and Rick Keesee; and girlfriend, Amanda McClure.
In keeping with Dave's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Newcomer Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Toledo Area Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
