David A. "Dave" Roberts, age 53, of Toledo, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 21, 1967 to Charles Johnson and Beverly Roberts in Dearborn, Michigan. Dave worked in outside sales at Universal Tool and Bax Global for many years. He was an avid sports fan, especially of football. Dave was a diehard fan of the Detroit Lions and the Michigan Wolverines. He also followed the Detroit Tigers. Dave was known as "The Mayor" to the neighborhood, making it his job to know everyone in and around the blocks. He was also known as "The Moneyman" as they all would play fantasy football together. Dave was very talented and did a lot of woodworking. He enjoyed camping with his family, especially at Twin Acres Campground. Dave loved nothing more than spending time with his family; most importantly his grandchildren. His smile, spirit and caring nature will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friend, Richard Rowley. Left to cherish Dave's memory are his loving wife of 18 years, Debra Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Madison and Blake Clevenger; step-sons, Shawn (Nicole) and Matthew (Candace) McCullough; grandsons, Noah, Greyson and Wyatt; sisters, Linda (Larry) Zelasko, Cissi (Daniel) Bauer and Lisa Evanoff; brothers, Chuck (Terri) Roberts and Mike (Wendy) Roberts; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 3 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo (419-392-9500) with Funeral Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be Private at Toledo Memorial Park. (For the safety of the Roberts family and their guests, masks are required with social distancing).
