David T. Mohler

David T Mohler, age 87, of Ottawa Hills, went to Heaven on December 17, 2018. David was born September 19, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Edward and Gertrude (Aylward) Mohler.

Following his graduation from Central Catholic High School he obtained employment with Owens-Illinois, Inc. He was inducted into the Army on February 01, 1952 and following basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, was assigned to the Far East Command. While serving in Korea, like his brother before him, David was wounded on December 5, 1952, receiving the Purple Heart. Following his service to his country, he returned to work with Owens-Illinois, Inc.

While providing for his family he attended The University of Toledo obtaining his bachelors in Business and a Master's in Education. He retired with Owens-Illinois, Inc. and continued to work with Maumee Trinova Corporation where he later retired.

David had a great love for his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He was a member of the American Turners-Toledo where he served as President for many years. David and his family were very involved with many of the activities at the club for over 50 years.

He was one of the founders of the German American Festival which is still held annually, Toledo's largest festival. David enjoyed golf, bridge, and gardening. He was a mentor to many, and always there to help those in need.

In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his Wife Caroljean (Farmer) Mohler; Son, Joseph P. Mohler; Brothers, Edward Mohler, Father James Mohler SJ,; Loving Partner, Shirley Gerst; Great Granddaughter Sophie Rose.

Left to cherish his memory is Daughter, Julia (Ron) Tremp; Sons, James (Beth) Mohler, Michael (Kristina) Mohler; Brother, Terence Mohler; Daughter in Law, Debora Mohler; Loving Partner, Janice Schemenauer; Grandchildren, Michael (Amanda), Jessica (Brian), Sarah (Ryan), Jeremy (Audra), Elizabeth (Mike), David, Raymond, Alexia, and Mason; many Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.


The family will receive guests Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Newcomer Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419) 473-0300, with his Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Promedica Ebeid Hospice, American Turners-Toledo and/or Little Flower Catholic Parish in David's memory.
