David "Moe" Summers

May 27, 1937 — February 1, 2016

David "Moe" Summers, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2016. He was born on May 27, 1937 to the late Margaret and Clarence Summers in Adrian, Michigan.

David enjoyed shooting pool with his buddies. He was a lifelong salesman and made many friends among his customers, co-workers & neighbors. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Division of the Masonic Lodge of Toledo and was very active in their Children's Dyslexia Center of Northwest Ohio. David served as a past president of the Glengate Homeowner's Association. He loved reading, especially mysteries and historical non-fiction. David and his wife Ruthie fulfilled their bucket list of traveling. This included memorable trips throughout the country, Europe and his army base in Germany where he was stationed from 1955-1958.

David is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ruth "Ruthie"; nieces, Amy Pollack and Sara (Shawn) Puckett and many other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Sue Springer and brother, Larry Summers.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in David's name to: The Children's Dyslexia Center of Northwest OH, 102 E. Broadway, Maumee, OH 43537.
