David Michael Vance, age 55, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2014 after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Born to Robert and Patricia "Myrna" Vance on February 28, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois.
David lived his life to the fullest despite being shot in the eye at the age of 12 and became legally blind. He owned/operated Bath Crest Co. in Toledo. David was very loving and will be remembered as a generous man who always put others needs before his own. He loved to fish, sing, play guitar and harmonica. David performed at Dorr Street Café while in remission.
David was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Robbi and Michael. Because of his bubbly optimistic attitude, he will be greatly missed by his mom; sister, Janie and her husband, Denny Wojcikowski ; nephews, Derek and Jared, whom he adored; aunts, Lory Jacoby and Ester Chaves; wonderful sister and brother-in-law Sandy and Rick Tober and son, Matt Tober; daughter, Tami Tomlin; granddaughters, Kearstin Horn and Kamryn Brown; sister-in-law, Nikki Evanoff; niece, Kayla Evanoff ; best friend, Bob Long; David's dog, Stewie; so many other close friends; and also Christine Vance.
David was also blessed to have had St. Vincent Hospital nurses, Laura, Megan, Jodi, Jessica, Mia, Jen, Patty and Shannon who knew the meaning of love and compassion. Doctors and nurses at OSU, James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio for their care.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Prayer Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 6149 Hill Avenue.
