David F. "Dave" O'Brien, age 72, of West Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Heartland of Waterville. He was born on November 1, 1939 to John J. and Evelyn M. (Franklin) O'Brien in Providence, Rhode Island. Dave was a graduate of Warwick Memorial Veterans High School in Warwick, Rhode Island.
He was dedicated to his trade and enjoyed working at General Motors Tech Center in Warren, Michigan. Dave retired in 2008 after 23 years of service as a sheet metal worker. For over 50 years he perfected his skill by working in the sheet metal industry in various places throughout the country. Dave was a devoted Nascar fan and loved watching all sports.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 25 years, Sharon A. (Kurth) O'Brien; children, Leana Bresler, Kimberly (Jamie) Traczyk and Jason (Amanda) Brown; grandchildren, Erica, Nick, Madisyn, Macie, Keyghan and Braiden; siblings, John (Laura) O'Brien of Georgia, Joyce (Bill) Crocroft of Rhode Island and Paul (Sherri) O'Brien of California. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Leana O'Brien.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet.
Dave's family would like to specially thank the staff at Heartland of Waterville and also the Heartland Hospice staff for the diligent care and love they provided to Dave.
