Darlene S. Dixon, age 77, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. She was born August 16, 1945 in Toledo. Her parents were Harold and Bernice (Miller) Langham. Darlene graduated from Whitmer High School, Class of 1963. She married shortly after graduation and began her family, welcoming her daughter and son. Many years later, Darlene adopted her precious dog, "Babe" from her son John. It was this dog that her kids often joked was her 3rd favorite child, spoiling him with ice-cream, burgers and weekend car trips.
Darlene was employed with Jeep Chrysler, retiring after many years of service. She was also a server for a couple area restaurants for several years.
Darlene was one of 7 children, growing up with an identical twin sister. She and Diana, her twin, grew up experiencing many of the same mannerisms, favorite foods and fashion sense. As adults, they continued all those same experiences, as well as finishing each other's sentences during conversations.
In her later years, Darlene enjoyed playing games like Yahtzee, Scrabble and Gin Rummy. When it came to a little friendly competition, she always played to win! When Darlene couldn't go out to visit family and friends, she made it a point to stay in touch over the phone.
Family was important to her, so spending time with her children, grandchildren and siblings were always times she treasured, especially during the holidays and special occasions. She had a generous heart for those in need and would often willingly lend others a shoulder to lean on, a few dollars to make ends meet and even her home when they needed shelter.
Darlene liked to travel, visiting many favorite areas throughout the US from California to New York and many states in between. Some of her favorite memories were trips to the Smokey Mountains. She also enjoyed going to Bluegrass festivals enjoying the music and scenery with her sisters, Patricia and Diana and other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marilyn and Judy. She is survived by her loving children, Jeanne (Michael) Kobylski and John Dixon; beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings: Patricia, Diana, Wayne and Sherry.
