Darla M. Cully

Darla M. Cully, age 71, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully Saturday, May 8, 2021. She was born on March 9, 1950 to Virgil and Doris Racheter in Toledo. Darla graduated from Whitmer High School in 1968. She then attended the University of Toledo and graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education. Darla taught elementary school in Fremont, OH.

She married Orlo R. "Ralph" Cully, Jr., on April 6, 1974. In 1977, Darla and Ralph moved back to Toledo to raise their three boys. She continued educating children at the Toledo Botanical Gardens and as a volunteer at vacation bible school. Darla also found many years of enjoyment sharing her love of nature working at Wild Birds Unlimited.

Darla loved volunteering and spent many years helping plan various events including dinners, speaking engagements and holiday parties. She also loved hosting bible studies and spending time with her friends. Darla's greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Velma Skareen. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 47 years, Orlo "Ralph"; sons, Orlo "Chip" Cully, III, Peter (Shelby) Cully and Nathan (Heather) Cully; grandchildren, Darren, Mikayla, Kaitlyn, Morgan, Kylie, Ava and Liam; and many dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
