Danny "Skip" R. Halsey, age 83, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 21, 2022, at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1939, to the late Vern Halsey and Betty (Hawkins) Clark-Halsey.
Danny went to Whitmer High School and had worked at Vin Devers for 40 years. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. A jack of all trades, he was very talented in woodworking and working on cars. He made the most beautiful wood pieces, a few being, rocking horses, toy boxes, and planters. Danny will truly be missed by all who knew him. His love, grunt, and smile will forever be remembered. This isn't goodbye, it's see you later…
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving children, Tammy Waschnig, Nick Waschnig, and Anthony (Jessica) Waschnig; grandchildren, Nicole (Cody) Crabtree, Shawnna Waschnig, Karly Waschnig, and Kohl Waschnig; great grandchildren, Cali, Chloe, Jamal, Amiya, and Leo; brothers, Vern "Sonny" Halsey, Lance "Robin" (Jeanne) Halsey, and Timothy Halsey; sister, Bridget (Larry Warner) Halsey; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by his wife, Norma Jean (Styer) Halsey, whom he married on October 10, 1970.
Family and friends may gather at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Following visitation, we will lay Danny to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park, where a graveside service will take place, along with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lucas County Humane Society, 827 Illinois Ave, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
