Daniel T. Ciepichal, age 81, lost his two year battle with lung cancer on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. First diagnosed with cancer in April, 2006, Dan led a full and active life until a week ago, when he entered the in-care patient facility. Dan was born in Toledo on January 12, 1927 to Helen and Thomas Ciepichal. A graduate of Woodward High School, Dan was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Champion Spark Plug for 42 years, retiring as Department Superintendent in 1986. Throughout his life, Dan was involved in many activities including The Boy Scouts and Junior Achievement. One of Dan's greatest pleasures was the 25 summers spent with family and friends at the family's cottage located at Evan's Lake in the Irish Hills of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Virginia Machcinski. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia; sons, Donald, Michael (Pam) and Thomas (Kathleen); grandchildren, Brian and Allison Ciepichal.
Dan's body was donated to the University Of Toledo Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church on Harvest Lane. Visitation will take place one hour prior in the Narthex of the church.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their kindness and concern, especially Diane Braker, who lovingly cared for Dan in his final months. Their thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
