Daniel J. Robb

Daniel "Dan" Robb, a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at home and surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. He was 85.

Dan, affectionately referred to as Sr., was born to William and Irene (Johnson) Robb on October 12, 1937. He grew up in Toledo with his brothers and sisters in his lifelong hometown of Toledo, OH. He attended Central Catholic High School (class of 1956), where he developed lifelong friendships, as well as a keen sense of loyalty and love for his country. Sr. became a United States Marine in 1956 and served his country until 1962. He met more lifelong friends, including Mary Rombkowski, his wife of over 40 years.

Sr. was a conductor, yardmaster and brakeman for over 39 years. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway in 2000. A love of sports and recreation carried through most of his life. He was a dart ball and bowling aficionado, talents which he passed down to both of his children. Sr. was also an avid sports fan, always making sure to tune in for Notre Dame football games every season. When he wasn't spending time with friends and family, Sr. could be found basking in the warm weather on Florida beaches with cocktail in hand.

One of the most successful jobs that Sr. had was being a loving and doting grandfather. His grandchildren have fond memories of spending afternoons playing out in the backyard, pulling mattresses into the living room to jump around, and falling asleep watching Johnny Carson VHS tapes. He always made sure to call and let the family know what Hallmark Christmas movies were playing that evening. Sr. was kind, funny and light-hearted, and he will be missed dearly.

Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; siblings, James, William, and Barbara; and his father and mother, William and Irene.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Sue (Randy) Krajewski; son, Daniel (Andrea); grandchildren, Alyson (Baxter) Krajewski, Morgan Krajewski, Lauren Robb, Courtney (Brandon) Becker, Thomas (Amanda) Hall III, and Brandon (Kristine) Hall; step-great-grandchildren Gavin, Addison, Gracelyn, Karrah, Peyton, Zander, and Maddie; and sister Mary Ann; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Family and friends are welcome to attend funeral services, which will be held at Newcomer Funeral home on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 1:00pm to 7:00pm. A small service will begin at 7:00pm. Dan's family asks that you honor his love for sports by wearing your favorite sports jersey or attire. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made in Dan's honor to either the local Veterans of Foreign War Post #3338 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Semper Fi!
