Daniel J. "Dan" VanFleet, age 58, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo with his loving wife by his side. Dan was born on September 22, 1956 to Alvin and Frances (Hill) VanFleet in Jackson, Michigan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving his country proudly. Dan was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #320, Maumee, OH. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years until becoming ill. Dan was an avid sports fan, especially of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers and loved Nascar and drag racing. He loved dogs, motorcycles and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy VanFleet. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Roxanne Moore; step-sons, Dallas and Denver (Amy) Colpaert; grandchildren, Andrew and Taylor; sister, Sue (Dan) MacDermid; niece, Rachel MacDermid; beloved dogs, Mitzy, Ozzie and Shadow; and many dear friends and extended family.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 11:45 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Military Honors performed by the American Legion Post #320.
