Daniel P. "Scotty" Haughian, age 85, of Maumee, OH passed away December 22, 2022 at his home. He was born May 18, 1937 in Coatbridge, Scotland to Patrick and Mary (Campbell) Haughian. He served in the British Army for 2 years in Germany and then traveled the world with the British Merchant Navy. Daniel and his wife, Margaret came to the USA in 1963 through Canada. He was a Baker for several Bakeries in Jackson, MI and Toledo. Daniel went to night school to become a welder. He then went to work for Art Iron and then for Jeep as a Millwright. Daniel retired from Jeep in 2001. He enjoyed fishing for Walleye and White Bass Run in the Maumee River and was a member of the Merickel-Farley Trout Club in Swanton, OH.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Haughian; brother, John Haughian; sister, Helen (Brian) Gray; and two infant children that his mother lost. He is survived by his son, Gary P. Haughian; daughter, Karen (John) Stuetzer; grandson, Brenden Stuetzer; granddaughter, Shannon Stuetzer; siblings, Frank (Rebecca) Haughian, Veronica (Tony) Hartie, Joseph (Patricia) Haughian, Elizabeth (Jim) Farrell, Gerard (Ann) Haughian, Agnes (Jim) McCann, Dorothy (Jim) Horgan; sister-in-law, Hilda Haughian and travel companion and lady friend for 21 years, Mary Sundling.
The family will receive guests Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900) where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
