Daniel G. Reese

Daniel Glen Reese, loving husband, father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania, OH, at the age of 76. He battled an inoperable brain tumor for 6 months with relentless bravery and resolve.

Born on February 23, 1949, in Angola, IN, Dan was the son of the late Edwin T. Reese and Rachel Beth "Betty" (Ferris). Dan graduated from Angola High School in 1967 and Andrew-Toledo Barber College in 1969. He also served with the U.S. Army National Guard from 1971-1977.

Dan's life changed when he met his wife, Deb, while attending barber college in Toledo, OH. They married at GESU Catholic Church on May 12, 1972, and embarked on a life filled with travel and camping, frequently returning to Vista Villa campgrounds on Lake Erie before it became Vista Villa Association in 1983. Dan and Deb were original members and have enjoyed weekends and summers on the lake ever since.

A licensed barber known for his ability to connect with people, Dan also dedicated many years to industrial tool sales at the Bostwick-Braun Corporation. He found great joy in coaching his children's youth baseball and basketball teams. This passion led him to Winterfield Venture Academy, where he served as Athletic Director, founding the school's sports program, and working as a Paraprofessional in the classroom.

Dan was a lifelong Detroit sports and University of Michigan fan, and proud to see the Wolverines return to an undefeated football National Championship in 2024. He enjoyed music and could often be found listening on the patio or playing at events for others at the lake – between drives to the grandkids' soccer and baseball games, track and wrestling meets, gymnastics or cheerleading events, musicals or plays, and marching band or color guard competitions.

Family was everything to him. One of Dan's fondest memories was a trip to Northern Michigan where he and Debbie celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with their children, children's spouses, and grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Debra "Debbie" (Davis); his children Brett Daniel (Sarah) Reese, Amanda Marie (Owen) Miller, his 6 grandchildren: Reese, Jonas, Blake, Lillian, Piper and Nolan; as well as Dan's older brother Timothy Lee (Penny) Reese and sister-in-law Darlene Reese. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his half-brother, Howard Clyde Chapman "Chappy", and brother Michael "Mike" Edwin (Darlene) Reese.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations on behalf of Dan should be made out to the family for their charity of choice.
