Dale R. Kinzel Sr.

Dale Russell Kinzel Sr., age 87, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on January 15, 2025, at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital. He was born April 8, 1937, in Toledo, to the late Hugo and Inis (Schall) Kinzel.

A proud graduate of Macomber High School, class of 1956, Dale upheld the values of craftsmanship and perseverance that he carried throughout his life. His involvement with UAW Local 12 highlighted his commitment to his fellow workers, further illustrating his dedication to the community. 

Dale dedicated over thirty years of his life to driving trucks for Champion Spark Plug, a position he relished deeply until the company closed its doors. His passion for the open road and commitment to his work were testaments to his character. Dale was not just a skilled truck driver; he also possessed the hands of a talented woodworker. Friends and family will forever treasure the beautiful pieces he crafted from nothing but raw materials, transforming wood into exquisite keepsakes. Each creation was more than a simple object; they were treasures, lovingly made with care and intention, destined to be passed down through generations. Every piece serves as a reminder of Dale’s artistry and the love that he put into each piece.

As we remember Dale, we celebrate a life lived with integrity and dedication to both his work and his family. His spirit will live on through the memories he created, the skills he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. 

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nancy (Stewart) Kinzel, whom he married on April 2, 1976; daughter, Sandra Kinzel; son, Dale (Cindy) Kinzel Jr.; sister, Mildred Micham; step-children, Juliet Denniss, Jeff (Karen) Hopkins, Jennifer Thomas, Tamela Anderson, and Cheryl Wood-Coates; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Inis Dickerson, Grace Feldmann, June Foote, Clarence Kinzel, and James Kinzel.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. A private service will take place at Toledo Memorial Park, where Dale will be laid to rest.
