Dale F. Homer, age 83, of Toledo, passed away, going home with the Lord on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo on April 11, 1930 to Florian Dominic and Cora H. (Christlieb) Homer. He was the youngest of five siblings. Dale was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged in 1955. Dale was stationed in Alaska repairing radios and aircraft during the Korean War and later stationed in Arizona and New Mexico. He signed on with the Toledo Police Force in 1959, serving 26 years with distinction, retiring in 1985. Dale worked hard and cared tremendously to provide for his family, giving his children great memories at Farwell and Hemlock Lake, boating, traveling and family gatherings. He was affectionately known as "Papa" to his grandchildren. During retirement Dale and Kathy would travel overseas to Europe, Hawaii and Australia. They lived in Florida at Country Meadows Park for a number of years, splitting their time between Hemlock Lake and Plant City. Dale had a number of part time jobs; driving cars for Yark Automotive, Enterprise Car Rental and in sales with Palm Harbor Homes in Plant City, Florida. He enjoyed keeping busy by putting around the house, visiting friends and chatting with people. Dale will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leo; sisters, Phyllis Huston, Irma "Nunie" Martinez and Carolyn Venia. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Kathleen (Ryan) Homer, whom he married on February 11, 1956; children, Robin (Stephanie), Diane Cline, Thomas and Lynn (Darrell) Millsaps; grandchildren, Matthew R. (Heather) and Megan Lee Tussing; Jacob Cline, Adam, Sarah, Aaron and Jessica Homer; Rachel, Tabitha, Daniella and Jesse Millsaps; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Brendan, LaMarr, Josiah, Jaylen, Racquel, Tavian, Isaiah and Jayvier; and many other relatives and dear friends.
