Dale Bruns

Dale W. Bruns, age 85 of Sylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born June 16, 1925 in Archbold, Ohio. Dale proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and through the years he was involved with the Walter Weller American Legion Post where he was a member. He was the owner of Dale's Barber Shop on the corner of Main and Monroe in Sylvania for over 50 years. In his spare time Dale enjoyed golfing with his fellow legionaries friends and loved to take his grandchildren camping. Another favorite past time Dale enjoyed was he acted as the caller for square dancing. For a number of years he attended services at Lewis Avenue Baptist Church. His family will remember him as a kind hearted and simple man.

Left to cherish his memory was his wife Beverly (Batdorf) Bruns; step-children, Henry (Debby) Chase, Dana (Debra) Chase and Tanya (Tim) Chase; 10 grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

The family will receive guests Monday from 3-5:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will start Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
