Craig Moore, Jr.

September 10, 1965 — August 27, 2021

Craig went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 27th, 2021. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and multiple myeloma in November of 2020, and passed away after a short but courageous battle stemming from the combination of the two illnesses.

Craig was born September 10th, 1965 in Toledo Ohio to William Craig Moore Sr. and Irene Moore. He began his dedicated walk with Christ at Inspirational Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, and a most enthusiastic choir member. He later continued his faithful service to the Lord at Mount Zion Church of Christ Holiness where he served in various leadership positions such as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and a finance committee liaison.

In his youth, Craig attended St. Angela Hall and graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School in 1983 where he played short term football, and later joined the marching band. He was affectionately known as "Chumly" by his peers. Craig later attended the University of Toledo to further his education.

In his early career days, he was a manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken where he became well known and loved throughout the city of Toledo, and then in September of 1988, he began his long time service with the Toledo Police Department. He served the community as a patrol officer, school officer, and finally detective for nearly 34 years, and it was in his last year of service that he was honored to receive the #1 badge. He was known on the department as BigBaby, a nickname given to him by his best friend and fellow employee/partner in crime, Perry Waddell. Craig's career life modeled his daily life as he was deeply committed to whatever he set out to do.

Craig met Andrea, the love of his life in his late teens. After a beautifully humble pursuit of her love, they began their union as one in April of 1988. From the first time he saw her, he knew he'd marry her. He confidently declared his plans to do so to a friend, and sure enough, after a couple years, he did exactly as he said he would. Andrea never knew of this declaration until it was shared the day of their wedding as the best man (Tony Tuggle) told the story that was truly the beginning of a forever love. Their love and deep commitment to one another continued and grew into a special union immensely blessed, and divinely orchestrated by the God they serve. They affectionately called one another "Love", for it was a name that vividly reflected who they were to one another.

Craig was a man of great integrity, and one who everyone called "friend". He was deeply loved by many. His love for God, his wife, family, friends, and co-workers was evident in his daily walk. He was a loving and attentive father. He loved sharing the Word of God, and he wasn't selective in his sharing… He shared it with everyone he met, and impacted the young and old alike. He did his best to live the life that he so diligently shared. Even in his sickness, he continued to share the Word of God with both friends and strangers.
Golf was his sport of choice, and he loved to travel all over the country with his wife and their dear friends, the Powell's.

Though we're all deeply saddened by Craig's absence here on earth, the angels in Heaven rejoice.

Craig is preceded in death by his father, William Craig Moore Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea, his loving mother, Irene Blanchard/Moore, his sons, Trevor and Joshua, a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
