Constantine Anthony Smolinski

Constantine Anthony Smolinski, age 90, of north Toledo past away on Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at his resident in Vicki's Home Care assisted living home with his daughter by his side. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 28, 1919 to Pauline and Kostanty Smolenski. Connie graduated from Libbey High School and served in the CCC's in the western states before serving in the Army (1939) during WWII for 5 years stationed in the south Pacific arena (New Caledonia) and was honorably discharged in 1944 with the rank of Tech Sergeant. Five years after returning home from the war, he met his wife, Jane Rybaczewski. They married on April 30, 1949 and had their only daughter in 1952. Connie always kept himself busy with many construction projects around their home which were completed by him or with help from his family members. Connie also like to bowl and belonged on a team with his brothers. After working for 9 yrs. for Penn Central Railroad, he retired from Art Iron Inc. in 1984 with 25 yrs.

Connie was preceded in death by his wife Jane (Rybaczewski) Smolinski in 1989; both parents Kostanty and Pauline Smolenski; brothers Julius (Jimmie), Walter, Anthony (Tony), Frank (Gilbert), Casimere (Cas); and sisters Genevieve Smolenski, Stella (Edward) Chomyczen. He is survived by his daughter Donna (Bill) Nowak plus nieces, nephews and friends.

At Constantine's request there will be a Private Graveside Service at Calvary Cemetery, Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at Regina Coeli Church, 530 Regina Parkway.

Memorial donations may be given to Vicki's Home Care, LLC, 1905 Centennial Rd., Toledo, OH 43617; Hospice of NW Ohio or Regina Coeli Church.
