Constance Mary (nee MacMaster, Appleton) Yablonski, resident of Goerlich Center, Sylvania, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 after 91 years of an adventurous life. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 14, 1923 to August and Celeste MacMaster. Settling in Detroit, MI, life led her to love family, friends and globe-trotting travel.
Constance met her husband, Walter Jacob Yablonski, in a scenario worthy of a romantic comedy. Spotting the curly haired secretary at work, it was love at first sight for Walter. A surprise attack of appendicitis landed Constance in the hospital. Post-surgery, a dozen red roses, anonymously sent, awaited her. Gathering the courage to confess, Walter spilled his feelings and in return got the best dancing partner, golf buddy, travel companion, wife and mother of his children he could ask for.
With a sweet tooth and a sweet heart, this popular lady made friends where ever she went. An avid bowler, graceful dancer and pie-maker extraordinaire, Constance passed on her love of travel, joyful smile and regretfully, her tone deafness to her surviving family; Sons, Gary (Eleanor) and Tom (Beth) Appleton; daughters, Marlene (Jim) Brice and Janet (Dimitri Mantakounis) Appleton; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald and Barry MacMaster. In addition to her parents, Constance was preceded in death by her husband, Walter.
Private Funeral Services will be held for Constance's immediate family. The Newcomer Funeral Home – SW Chapel, (419-381-1900) assisted the family with professional services.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Goerlich Center, 5320 Harroun Rd., Sylvania, Ohio 43560, whose staff the family could not thank enough.
