Colleen S. (Murphy) Furfaro, age 56 of Toledo passed away Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 8th, 1955 to Marshall "James" and Violet M. (Sheckler) Murphy. Upon graduation from Libbey High School, she began her almost 40 year career at Ohio Bell, now AT&T as a telephone operator. She worked her way up to her most recent position as Service Executive in global services. Colleen was a former President of the Pioneers, a civic organization that allows retirees to give back to the community. She was a dedicated career woman and enjoyed working and interacting with her co-workers and clients. Colleen was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, southern cooking and Paula Deen. She also loved to drive her Ford Mustang and travel. Her family will miss her kind heart, her selflessness and how attentive and caring she was.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, John Furfaro; daughter, Andrea M. (Robert J.) Dressel Jr.; son, John N. Furfaro; sisters, Maureen LaLonde and Kathy Perrin; many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and co-workers throughout the country.
A Memorial Service in honor of Colleen will be held at Central Park West, 3141 Central Park West Drive, Toledo on Sunday, the 11th of September, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Victory Center in honor of Colleen, 5532 W. Central Ave., Suite B, Toledo, Ohio 43615.
The family would like to especially thank the nurses at St. Anne Cancer Center, the Victory Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
