Clifford Myers, Sr.
Clifford Myers Sr., better know as "Red Hot" was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 in St. Luke's Hospital. He was born April 9, 1909 to the union of Charlie and Lila Myers in Deatsville, ALA. He was a loyal member of the United Church of God, under the direction of the late Reverends John and Odies Early.
Clifford was the oldest African American farmer at the Toledo Farmer's Market. He was well known for selling his famous greens and red hot peppers, yelling "Red Hot !" He retired at the age of 90.
He is survived by his children, Clifford (Pearl) Jr. of Williamsburg VA., Irezetta Jones, Jacqueline (Freddie) Robinson, Annie (James) Fitzpatrick; Gwendolyn (Dwayne) Rodgers and Lisa Myers all of Toledo, daughter-in-law, Nina Myers; brother, Frank Myers Sr. and sister, Dr. Odies Early of San Diego, CA; 48 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 14 great great-grandchildren; godson Glenn Smith and a host of loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive guests Monday from 5-8 p.m. in the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Wake Services will be Tuesday from 11-12:00 p.m. followed by Funeral Services beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the First Church of God, Pastor Rev. Robert Culp, 3016 Collingwood Blvd. Officiating services will be Rev. David O'Dell. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
