Clifford "Rifle" V. McBride
Clifford V. "Rifle" McBride, age 71, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at St. Anne Mercy Hospital. He was born July 18, 1936 to Chester and Eliza Mae McBride in Toledo. Cliff was a dental technician employed with Dresch-Tolson for more than 21 years. Cliff "Rifle" was an avid bowler, bowling two 300 games for which he was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1994. Because of his love of bowling and helping kids, Cliff built the largest high school Metro-Leauge in the United States. He coached this league for 33 years and was honored as "Coach of the Year" during the 1999-2000 seasons. Cliff enjoyed sports of all kinds but will be remembered for his devotion to the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions over the years.
Cliff was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dianne M. (Welter) McBride; daughter, Kelly McBride; sons, Scott (Shannon) and Derek (Mindy) McBride; grandchildren, Dillon; Shelby; Brett; Brady and Erin; mother, Eliza Mae McBride; brother, Lee McBride and sister, Mary (Roy) Mills.
The family will receive guests Monday from 2-4 & 6-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Rick DuShane. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
