Clifford C. Cox, age 84, of North Toledo, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born March 12, 1923 to David and Margaret (Paul) Cox in Gatliff, Kentucky. Clifford served in the 3C's and was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He married Janita (Potter) on April 6, 1947 in Williamsburg, Kentucky. While living in Kentucky, Clifford was a coal miner. In 1959, Clifford and Janita moved their family to Toledo. He was employed with Baron Drawn Steel for many years, retiring in 1988. Clifford was a member of American Legion, Harry Pond Post #99.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janita ; children, Jack (Pat) Cox; Judy (Harley) Drouillard, Gail Hughes; Wade (Karen) Cox; Janet (Vince) Josefowicz; Helen (Joe) Bahlhorn; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Claude (Alma); Dorothy (Bill) Baker; Jessie (James) Smith; Joe (Shelby) Cox and Marie Thomas.
In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by grandchildren, Cheryl Grycza; Erik Hughes and Lisa Cox; sister, Ruth Speck and brothers, Hobert Cox and Clarence Cox.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-4 & 6-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Woodrow Thomas. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
