Clay M. Berry, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Clay was born January 3, 1924 to Thomas and Devella Berry in Toledo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country proudly during WWII. Clay was employed with Jeep for over 20 years and then with Hammill Mfg. for over 20 years until retiring. After retirement he worked 18 years for National Car Rental. Clay was a member of the Zenobia Shrine Arab Patrol, the Masons, Scottish Rite, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Maumee Elks and the American Legion Holland Post #646. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Berry. Clay is survived by his loving wife, Sue Tillman-Berry; step-daughter, Gretchen (David) Throne; granddaughters, Ashley and Raegan; sister-in-law, Patricia (Tom) Shinevar; brothers-in-law, Jim and Mike Cooper; 2 cousins; and 1 nephew.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
