"Thank God for Jesus" ~ Claudia M. Barnett
Claudia Mae Barnett, age 107, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away April 21, 2021 at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania. She was born April 15, 1914 to Frank and Hennie (Jones) Coleman in Dudley, Georgia. Claudia moved to Toledo as a young woman to live with her brother Rev. Samuel Coleman, pastor of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. In 1943 she married Benjamin Hall and had her first child, Betty. Claudia lost Benjamin after only a few years, but felt blessed to have found love again when she met and married John Barnett. Her family expanded with the birth of her son, Ronald.
Claudia was a great cook and was known for many favorite dishes. She also enjoyed spending time outside working in her flower gardens. Reading the bible was another favorite pastime.
Claudia was a woman of strong faith and attended church throughout her life. She was committed to living her life with God as her guide in everything she did. Claudia was someone who gave her love and support to others willingly. She would often exclaim, "Thank God for Jesus" because it is through Him that she found her strength. She was a prayer warrior and a known praiser.
Claudia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing the time she was able to spend with her family and friends. She was so proud of her grandchildren and was happy that she was active with their upbringing. At 100 years old she even danced at her grandson's wedding!
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Benjamin Hall and John Barnett; son, Ronald Barnett; siblings, Clinch, Samuel, Cary, Pennsylvania, Annie, Fannie, Frank "Bud" and James Harold; grandchildren, Torrance and Danielle and special nephew, Clifton Carswell.
Claudia is survived by her loving daughter, Betty Huston; grandson, Ronald J. (Jeniene) Hall; granddaughter-in-law, Ericka Hall; great grandchildren, Jeffery, Jay, Jon, De'Asia, Samuel, Victoria Mercy, Logan and Dereonna; great-great grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah, Moriah, Analiyah and Ronald "Tre" III; Charssie Willis who was like a granddaughter; and god-daughter, Bernicesteen King.
There will be a Private Funeral Ceremony for the family to celebrate Claudia's life. Burial will be at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Kingston for the loving care they provided for Claudia during her time there.
