Clarence "Stretch" Meyer, age 90, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Swanton Healthcare. He was born September 5, 1922 in Evansville, Indiana to Joseph and Bertha Meyer. Stretch served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Airborne Photographer in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed by the Toledo Blade as a Photoengraver for over 30 years. Stretch enjoyed traveling, fishing and card playing.
Stretch was married to Ina (Orr) Meyer for 64 years who preceded him in death May 1, 2011; left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Nancy (Bob) Smithmyer, Kathy (Charles) Lillibridge, Debby (Joe) Gomez, Dan (Sue) Meyer and John (Victoria) Meyer; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Stretch was preceded in death by his daughter, Patty Meyer Root; and siblings, Hank, Irene and Lou.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
