Clarence F. Holub, age 92, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on April 27, 1919 to Joseph and Francis Holub in Toledo. Clarence was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country proudly and also a longtime member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Chapter 3. He worked as a milkman at Babcock Dairy for 22 years and then with Washington Local Schools for 22 years as a boiler operator and head of maintenance until retiring. After retirement he enjoyed traveling in the motor home with his wife June. Clarence enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a longtime member of Reformation Lutheran Church. Clarence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, June Holub; brother, Frank Holub, Sr.; and sister, Caroline Basilius. Clarence is survived by his daughter, Linda (Jerry) Sheckler; son, Keith (Lori) Holub; grandchildren, Brian, Jeff, Joseph and John; great-grandchildren, Nick, Allie, Jacob and Justin; and special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 – 4:00 & 6 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
