Clara Edwina Patton Sciplin, age 81, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born March 20, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, the 1st of two daughters of John William Patton and Minnie Luther Stone Patton.
In addition to being a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, Clara had a successful professional career, starting as an Administrative Assistant at Toledo Edison and Executive Secretary for the Diocesan Office of Community Relations. She later accepted a challenge to work for the Governor Richard Celeste, as chief of staff in the Ohio Department of Aging. Clara also held a position in the Ohio Department of Agriculture. After returning to Toledo from Columbus, she held several administrative management positions including COSI and The University of Toledo.
Clara is survived by her 4 children, Robert (Terry), Allison, David and Andrea Sciplin; grandchildren, Justin, Alisondrea, Rachel and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Julion and Jaiden; loving sister, Valeria Patton Williams; 2 nephews; 2 nieces; special loved ones, Joyce Chapple, Dorothy Haverbush and Camille Sciplin; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at The Worship Center, 2204 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo with the Funeral Services beginning at 12:00 p.m. in church. Dr. Pat McKinstry will be officiating services.
