Christopher Steven Screptock, age 59, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at UTMC. He was born June 16, 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona to William and Margaret (Blake) Screptock. Chris graduated from Penta County Vocational School and Springfield High School, Class of '79. While at Springfield he was on the Hockey Team all 4 years. Chris went on to become a Journeyman and worked in Tool & Die for more than 40 years.
Chris loved to hunt and fish and would do that every chance he could. One of his favorite areas was French River in Canada. He also built muzzleloaders and was a member of the Toledo Muzzleloaders Club. When not hunting or fishing, Chris could be found at the shooting range. He was an avid history buff of the Revolutionary War period, attending re-enactments in several areas. There were also many trips to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village through the years. When spending time at home Chris loved to watch old war and western movies and documentaries and spending quality time with his 5 1/2 year old German Shepherd, "Ivy". He also enjoyed attending church at Cedar Creek in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Margaret "Peggy" Screptock. He is survived by his loving sisters, Catherine (Dennis) Moore and Theresa (Shawn) Preble; niece, Heather Moore; nephews, DJ Moore and Duncan Black; great niece, Sawyer Moore; great nephew, Ashton Moore and cousins, Fr. Scott Woods, Kevin, Kelly, Debbie, Denise and David.
The family will receive guests Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 11:00 am-3:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road (419-392-9500) where funeral services will begin at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Dog Works of Ohio in Chris's memory.
