Christopher S. Repass

Christopher Shawn Repass passed away February 22, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 10, 2000 in Toledo to Chad and Carrie (Watts) Repass. He joined big brother, Austin, to complete the family. He attended Washington Local schools, graduating from Whitmer High School in 2018.

Christopher was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia in 2009. He faced this rare disorder with courage and bravery along with the sharp sense of humor that those close to him appreciated. He definitely knew the right time and place for a comment that was sure to make everyone laugh. He enjoyed going to MDA camp and playing video games. He loved swimming and, later, floating in the backyard pool. He enjoyed travelling with his family to warmer locations such as Florida and Hawaii. Christopher was a faithful fan of the University of Michigan football team.

Christopher’s favorite role may have been being “Uncle Chubby” to his niece and nephew, Harper and AJ. He truly enjoyed the time he spent playing and cuddling with them. He also was an excellent best friend to his cousin, Kadience (“Kadi girl”), who was by his side until the very end. Christopher was a beloved brother, friend, uncle, and son. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Marlene Watts, his uncle, Shawn Repass, and his great-uncle, Ken Repass. He is survived by his parents, Chad and Carrie Repass; his brother and sister-in-law, Austin and Stephanie Newbury; his niece and nephew, Harper and AJ Newbury, and his paternal grandparents, Debbie and Don Repass, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Christopher’s family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses on the 7th floor ICU at the Toledo Hospital. They would also like to thank Dr. Alan Burlingame and Dr. Julie Miller who have provided invaluable advice and guidance for many years as well as Christopher’s physical therapist, Joyce, for all the love and care she provided. Also, a special thanks to Stephanie, Christopher’s sister-in-law, who treated him with love, patience, and care over the years. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Christopher’s memory to Make a Wish or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Visitation will be Monday, March 3, at 2 with a memorial service at 5, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. Toledo. Please dress comfortably wearing your favorite University of Michigan gear. Christopher would love that!
