Christopher S. Hooten

Christopher S. Hooten, age 67, of Toledo, OH passed away unexpectedly November 26, 2024 at University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born January 27, 1957 in Toledo to Arthur and Sadevah (Francis) Hooten. 

Chris graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School and the University of Toledo. He held several different jobs throughout his life. Knew everything about fitting you for shoes thanks to his days at Payless and Footaction. Rarely ever got lost due to the different routes he covered while delivering for Airborne & DHL. He spent several years dispatching for Ray’s Service Center. His last job was with The Senator Group, where he would be found pushing his cart, singing and dancing to the oldies on his “Hooty Radio” they played for him.

Chris and Cheryl met while both working for Woodlawn Cemetery. Were happily married for 36 years. They did everything together, Cheryl will be lost without him. Also missing him will be their puppy Rocky and cat Smokey.

Chris was an avid bowler up until the last couple years. He had several 300’s, along with many other achievements. The thing he loved most was being “Coach Chris” to “his kids” for the Metro High School Bowling league. 

Chris was an incredible sports fan, rooting on the Green Bay Packers, Michigan State Spartans, Milwaukee Bucks, and especially the Toledo Mudhens, Detroit Tigers and Atlanta Braves. 

Chris was a man of deep faith, on Sundays you would find him at Christ the King Church ushering the Noon Mass.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl A. Hooten; and brothers, Jeffery Hooten and Gregory Hooten.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900) The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623 where the family will receive guests at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
