Christine L. Messenger

Christine L. Messenger, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving children and family in her cherished hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Born on January 30, 1953, Christine was a vibrant spirit who brought joy and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A devoted mother to her three children, Christine's life was filled with love and laughter as she encouraged them in every endeavor. She is survived by her daughters, Cari (Jerry) Smart and Misty (Dave) Mulligan, along with her son, Bob (Kim) Messenger, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength. Christine was also a proud grandmother, treasured by her grandchildren Joey, Jeni, David, Emily, Robert, Eric, her great grandchildren  Brayden, and Jaycie, who were the apples of her eye.

Christine was not only a mother but also a loving sister, leaving behind brothers Ron (Judy) Haupricht, Mark (Loretta) Haupricht, and Larry (Pat) Messenger, as well as her sister Rose (Wade) Baldwin. She cherished her relationships with her special friends, Laurie Kowalski and Kathie Carlin, and maintained close ties with her niece Wendy Kohanes. Christine's kindness extended beyond her immediate family, as she is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Her passions were many; Christine found joy in exploring new places, savoring culinary adventures, trying her luck at the casino, contributing her luck to bingo games, and passionately supporting her beloved University of Michigan football team. Above all, she relished attending her grandchildren’s activities, where her pride and joy shone brightly.

Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leslie Messenger, and her devoted parents, Merle and Betty Haupricht. She is also reunited in spirit with her sister, Sandy Eichenlaub.

Christine’s life will be celebrated during a Visitation with Family on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, leading into a heartfelt Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 PM. with Chaplain Tim Rabara, officiating. These services will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio.

Christine L. Messenger will be deeply missed but remembered for her unwavering love, infectious laughter, and the generous spirit she shared with all. Her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
