Christine N. Brown

Christine N. Brown, age 67, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away August 5, 2017. She was born June 19, 1950 in Bellevue, Ohio to Ralph and Jean (Drexel) Leonard. Christine was a 1968 graduate of Bellevue High School. She started her career in nursing as a graduate of the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1971 and continued her education to obtain a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Toledo in 1996. Christine was a Registered Nurse with the former Medical College of Ohio for more than 25 years, working in various capacities within the hospital. She retired from her career as the head nurse of the OB-GYN unit at MCO.

Christine was a caring, loving, accepting, and understanding woman. She was a friendly, loyal, neighbor and friend, wherever she resided, whether it be on Oakway or Muirfield Drives in South Toledo, Olmsted Falls, OH, or spending time at Lake Wawasee, IN. She was an avid gardener and a lover of the outside, enjoying all four seasons and the holidays they had to offer. At the age of 30, she gave birth to twin boys who blessed her with eight, beautiful grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother to her boys and a neighborhood mom to many more, affectionately known as "Mama B".

Christine was an exceptional grandmother, whose main priority was spending time with her boys and their families. Whether she was playing with her grandchildren, organizing family functions, spending time with her neighbors, or playing a monthly round of Bunco with her ladies, her passion was spending time with and helping people. From following the lives of all of her nieces and nephews, starting with her best friend/nephew, Matthew, or spending time at the lake with her cousin John and family, to watching her grandchildren grow, family was always her top priority.

Christine will be sorely missed by many friends and family and will continue to be celebrated for years to come.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jean Leonard. She is survived by her twin sons, Stephen (Lindsey) Brown and Zachary (Andrea) Brown; grandchildren, Hannah, Tatum, Emmah, Riley, Stephen, Makayla, Tenley and Savannah Brown; sisters, Nan (Ed) Todd, Melissa (Michael) Hendler, and Marcia (Sam) Barrett; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 9:00 am – 11:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Prayers will begin Saturday at 11:30 am in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2255 Central Grove Ave. A celebration of Christine's life will immediately follow mass at Premier Catering, 4480 Heatherdowns Blvd.

Memorial contributions may be made in Christine's memory, to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Northwest Ohio.
