Cheryl Lynn Leininger

September 28, 1966 — January 24, 2022

Cheryl Lynn (Schutt) Leininger, age 55, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at Flower Hospital due to complications from covid. She was born September 28, 1966 in Toledo to Gary and Judith (Latta) Schutt. Cheryl grew up in Toledo, graduating from Maumee High School, Class of 85. She went on to become an STNA working at Spring Meadows for more than 26 years. She loved caring for people and she treated every patient like they were her family.

Cheryl was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, cherishing the time she spent with family and friends. She was known by many as the "Neighborhood Mom" because she took an interest in being a supportive part of the families up and down her block. Her door and home were always open to those in need of a place to stay, a welcoming smile or a friend with a strong shoulder to lean on. Cheryl also enjoyed cooking, and no one could say no to her famous home cooked Mac & Cheese, Fried Chicken or her favorite, Chicken & Dumpling Soup.

Cheryl struggled with some health issues over the last several years but she never let that get in the way of living life to the fullest. She and her sisters spent time together every year traveling to fun destinations together, sharing many old stories of their previous trips and creating many more. When not traveling, Cheryl could be found at some local destinations enjoying and participating in karaoke and dance.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Wickard; stepmother, Marie Schutt and stepfather, Gary Wickard. Cheryl is survived by her father, Gary Schutt; loving daughters, Chelsea (Angela) Leininger, Kaylee (Sammie) Leininger and Destinie Leininger; siblings, Pam (Joe) Sell, Sue (Robby) Twigg, Gary (Melissa) Schutt, Valerie (Roland) Stephenson and Rhonda (Jack) Stephenson; 14 Grandchildren and her adopted son who she took in, Keivonn Craig. Cheryl will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
