Cheri L. Fitzgerald

Cheri L. (Schoenhofer) Fitzgerald, age 52, of Toledo, was called home to the Lord Friday, March 13, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 22, 1956 to James and Nancy (Ollila) Schoenhofer in Toledo. Cheri was employed with Midwest Products Finishing for the last 7 years where she had many friends. She was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time outdoors with her loving companion, Ron. Cheri was a fan of her garden and her squirrel friends. She is a beloved mom, girlfriend, grandma, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Cheri will be remembered as a strong woman who gave a long, brave filled fight against cancer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael and her brother, John Schoenhofer. Cheri is survived by her loving companion, Ron Smithers; beautiful and dedicated daughter, Deborah (Roger) Carter, of Temperance, MI; grandson, Matt, who was both a son and grandson to her; granddaughters, Courtney, Katlin and Keara; great-grandson, Logan; sisters, Donna (Mike) McNamee, Diane Stricker, Ann (Duane) Terry and Jana (Robert) Oyerbides, all of Toledo; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Thursday from 5 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all of their loving care and support given to Cheri and her family through this difficult time.
