Charlotte M. Petry

Charlotte M. Petry, age 84, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice. She was born on June 28, 1933 to Charles and Bertha (Smith) Bowers in Toledo. Charlotte was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She retired from the University of Toledo where she was the secretary in the College of Engineering for over 25 years. Charlotte then went to work as the church secretary for over 10 years as well. She had a love of gambling and going to the casino, especially playing the slot machines. Charlotte enjoyed playing cards with her close friends and family. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlotte will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Petry; son, Thomas Petry; daughter, Kathleen Kerner; brother, Chuck Bowers; and sister, Sally Carr. Charlotte is survived by her loving granddaughters, Crystal (Justin) Keene, Ashley (Michael) Fries and Bobby Petry; great-grandchildren, Ky, Kyra, Aerith, Gavin, Icarus, and Jensen; sister, Dorothy Fountain; and many other family members and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 2 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer – NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5845 Elmer Dr., Toledo, OH 43615 with visitation from 10 – 11:00 a.m. in church. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
