Charlotte A. Donovan, age 96, passed away peacefully at St. Clare Commons on June 27, 2021. She was born April 19, 1925 in Detroit, MI to Harold and Margaret (McLatchie) Nachazel.
Charlotte grew up during the depression era and moved around quite frequently, attending 13 different schools before settling in Toledo. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1943. Charlotte went on to study at Mary Manse College and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. That led her to a job at Plaskon/Allied Chemical where she met her future husband, Robert Donovan. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage.
Charlotte's greatest joy became raising her 5 children, and enjoying being with her 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Charlotte was the gracious host for many family gatherings.
She was an avid bridge player, reader and enjoyed spending time at the Maumee Senior Center. "Dunny" and Charlotte enjoyed camping and traveling the country in their RV.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Donovan; siblings, Robert Nachazel and Judith Gerschultz; grandson, Sean Michael Donovan; daughter-in-law, Patricia Donovan; niece, Grace Hines; sister-in-law, Geraldine Nachazel. She is survived by her children, Patrick T. Donovan, Michael (Barbara) J. Donovan, Robert J. Donovan, Jr., Peggy (Michael) Wilhelm and Patty (Daren) Dabrowski; grandchildren, Corey (Landon) Tracey, Patrick and Sam Donovan, Kimberly (Shaun) Conklin, Kelly (Mike) Barton, Mickey and Tim Wilhelm and Carolyn (Robbie) Brennan; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Ainsley, Lochlan, Claire, Bree, Bailey, Ben, Emily, Madelynn, Sean, Julia and Molly; siblings, Thomas (Mary) Nachazel and Margaret Nachazel; brother-in-law, Ronald Gerschultz; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 2255 Central Grove, Toledo, OH 43614. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery-Maumee, Maumee.
