Charline Morus, age 92, passed away Friday, February 18th, 2011 at Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community. She was born Mary Charline Dablow in Wahpeton, North Dakota on May 26th, 1918 to Carl "Charley" and Lenore Dablow. After graduating from North Dakota State Science College, she worked as a legal assistant. During World War II, Charline moved to Washington D.C., where she worked in the Pentagon as an assistant to several Army Generals. She married Henry P. Morus on August 30th, 1941 and waited for his return from overseas military service in 1945 to start their lives together in Cleveland. They had two children, Charles and Susan, and later moved to Toledo, where they spent the rest of their 63 years together.
Charline was a member of Little Flower Church in Toledo. She served as President of the Holy Rosary Society, Girl Scout leader, cookie chairman and N.W. Ohio Regional Girl Scout volunteer. Charline enjoyed piano, sewing and traveling with her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother, always lending an ear when her children needed her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; parents, Charley and Lenore Dablow; brother, Willard Dablow of Wahpeton, ND and grandson, Dale Bode of Toledo. Charline is survived by her son, Charles (Debbie) Morus of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter, Susan (Thomas) Bode of Toledo and grandchildren, Kyle and Julianna Bode of Toledo and Cheri Morus of Huntington Beach, CA. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Courtney, Karlie and Sierra Morus of Huntington Beach, CA.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 2-4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) and Thursday from 9-10:00 a.m. at Little Flower Church, 5522 Dorr St., followed by a Mass of Resurrection beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Fr. Joseph Steinbauer. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
