Charles T. "Charlie" Tackett, age 70, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at St. Anne Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 28, 1938 to Lelmer and Lola (Dooley) Tackett in Toledo. Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving his country proudly. Throughout his life he worked at Conrail Railroad until retiring. Charlie often enjoyed spending time with his many friends at the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center. He was an avid pool player, bowler and golfer. Charlie could always be found walking at Wildwood Park or riding his bike. He liked music and was an avid reader, especially about history. Charlie also had a strong love for his feline companions. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Charlie is survived by his loving daughter, Kristen Stoll; grandchildren, Anthony and Krystal-Ayn; brother, Robert Tackett; sisters, Virginia (James) Rostetter and Deborah (James) Lenox; former spouse and friend, Jan Schweer; close friend, Laura Warner; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 12:00 p.m.
