Charles Edward (“Ed”) Swicegood, 71, passed away peacefully at Ebeid Hospice on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Born on March 4, 1953 in Toledo, OH, he was the son of the late Carl C. Swicegood and Judy M. (Hurst) Swicegood.
Ed had a passion for animals and nature his entire life. He was head of robotics at AP Parts until its closing. He was an accomplished painter of Native American ceramics, an overall creative and artistic man. He married the love of his life, Marsha, in 2001. He enjoyed fishing and he loved spending time with his grandkids, and fishing with his grandkids was one of his favorite things to do. A devoted Christian, Ed was a member of Athens Missionary Baptist Church in Walbridge. He loved his country, and enjoyed discussing history and current events.
He is survived by his loving and loyal wife, Marsha Swicegood; son Carl (Tammy) Swicegood, daughter Amie (Albert Diaz) Swicegood, daughter Valerie (John Martinez) Swicegood, son Brian Hipp, son Jason (Pam) Kanthak, and daughter Lori (Chris) Kovacs; grandchildren Alberto, Ariana, Charles, Madison, Jocelynn, Dominick, Conner, Jackson, Mason, Izabella, Asher, Lindzie, Jaiden, Trent, Derrick, Ryan, and Sean; sisters Joan Bylow and Vicki (Mike) Macchirella; brothers in spirit Jim Hurst and Larry Hurst.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister Karen Susan Swicegood, brother Arthur Lambdin, sister Valerie Jean Frizzell and grandchildren, Isaiah and Aleixo Hipp.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Athens Missionary Baptist Church, 101 Breckman St, Walbridge, OH 43465 on Saturday, August 10, 2024 starting at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to Charles's family for a charity of their choice.
